Matte About You

A simple but edgy look is always black nail polish but this is putting a bit of a twist on the classic black polish. I first heard about matte nail polish in a magazine about two years ago where they described a look they did for Kim Kardashian doing a French manicure using only black nail polish and the matte top coat. It sounded pretty cool at the time but I never came across matte nail polish in the nail section until recently at Wal-Mart and then I started noticing them everywhere. So I decided to try it out and I am in love! Its easy and simple and gives your manicure something cute to admire.

1.       First start off with two coats of your favorite black polish. I’m using Orly in Liquid Vinyl and let dry.

2.       Then apply on coat of the Matte top coat. I picked up Essies Matte About You for like 7 bucks at Wal-Mart, I’ve also seen Revlon has some matte color collection and Hard Candy also has a Matte top coat in stores.

3.       And last paint a curved line using clear nail polish across the edge of your nails like if you were doing a French tip manicure.

And Taaa-daa! Cute fun and edgy right at your finger tips!

What i used:
Essie, Matte About You
Orly, Liquid Vinyl
China Glaze, Fast Forward topcoat

Beauty isnt Makeup

I use to believe makeup was the cure for everything, bad skin, no sleep, bad face care routine, sun burn etc., but it wasn’t till this year that I learned that your skin and your natural beauty is what helps makeup look better. I was not blessed with the best skin but I have found a good skin care routine that has helped improve the appearance of my skin and also improved my confidence when it comes to my makeup. Skin and health go hand in hand, drinking lots of water, getting a good night’s rest eating well and a good hygiene routine does wonders! I don’t believe you need the most expensive crèmes to help your skin, I think natural products work just as well. Heres what worked for me:

1.       First is my face wash, I use Neutrogenas Oil-Free Acne Wash. I’ve used it for years and is the only face wash I trust to not break me out or irritate my skin. Once I week I also like to use their Rapid Clear Facial scrub (not pictured) it gently exfoliates my skin and get rid of any dead skin cells.

2.       For any excess eye makeup I like to use Vitamin E skin oil. It gets rid of any type of eye make I have left over. It’s also good for moisturizing your skin and helps reduce the appearance of acne scars over a period of time. When I was a kid my mom use to rub this on my chicken pox scars and you can barely notice them anymore!

3.       Next I use Dickinsons Original Witch Hazel Pore Perfecting Toner to get rid of anything extra I have left over on my skin. You would think that after washing your face you would have gotten rid of all your makeup but there’s always a little left over and this is perfect just for that. I feel like after using this on my skin was softer and it really helped reduce the size of my pores, I use to hate how huge my pores looked when I would wear makeup but this has helped me tons! The plus is that its super cheap for a huge bottle, it’s about $5-6 at Walgreens.

4.       For my occasional breakouts I like to use Neutrogena On-The-Spot Acne Treatment. Its helps reduce the size of my blemish works fairly quickly. I’ve also gotten my younger brothers to start using it for their acne problems and its helps them out and has made a difference with their skin.

5.       And last is not something that helps out with my skin as far as acne but I like to use MAC Fix+ for those days when I do were makeup I apply it before my makeup instead of lotion and I like it better because it doesn’t make me oily. I also use it alone on days I don’t wear makeup it hydrates my skin and soothes any redness.

And ladies don’t forget to wash your makeup off at night! Sleeping with makeup on clogs your pores, and causes blemishes and in the long run wrinkles!
